Noored Ühiskonna Heaks (NYH) is promoting a call for participants for European Solidarity Corps (ESC) long-term volunteering projects in Palermo, Italy.

About the Project

"Promoting volunteering and youth participation": Opportunities with InformaGiovani ETS, 2 places, for 8 months, starting from November 2024 OR from January 2025. Associazione InformaGiovani organises activities such as information sessions, training courses and seminars on EU programmes, international workcamps, youth exchanges and volunteering teams. Volunteers will assist in the ONLINE PLACEMENT of Italian and foreign volunteers, MANAGE INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEER PROJECTS as campleaders, PREPARE NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL MOBILITY PROGRAMMES (logistics, agendas,..), perform ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS, create and run WORKCAMPS using non-formal methods. They will also take part in information sessions at the University of Palermo and in schools as Eurodesk representatives, while carrying out a PERSONAL PROJECT during their mobility.

"Sport and recreational activities with kids in Palermo": Opportunity to volunteer at a youth centre, 1 place for 8 months,  starting from January. The San Giovanni Apostolo Youth Centre in Palermo works with children, young people and families in a suburban area. Volunteers help with recreational activities, including after-school support (homework help, English or French language workshops using non-formal methods), creative workshops (guitar, dance, drama, drawing) and sports activities such as football (training, accompanying young people to tournaments, supporting matches). Volunteers are also encouraged to develop a personal project.

"Supporting activities in a youth center": One place for 7 months, starting from January. Inventare Insieme runs a youth centre to provide opportunities and support to young people aged 6-30. The volunteer will support the daily activities of the organisation aimed at the children, teenagers and young people in the youth centre. This will include: assisting with music and/or media labs and producing audio-visual materials to promote the work of the association. Volunteers will also take part in regular workshops on coding (digital skills), drawing, dance, theatre, environmental education and active citizenship; help with events at the Youth Centre during Christmas, Carnival and Easter; help to accompany children and young people on activities outside the centre.

About the association

InformaGiovani ETS is a non-governmental organization based in Palermo, established in 2001, dedicated to promoting youth participation, international volunteering, and non-formal education. The organization strives to provide opportunities for young people through initiatives such as the European Solidarity Corps (formerly the European Voluntary Service), youth exchanges, and training activities.

InformaGiovani’s mission is to support social inclusion, active citizenship, and access to resources and information for young people, with a special focus on those facing disadvantages. The NGO engages in numerous projects at local, national, and international levels, collaborating with other NGOs, schools, public institutions, and private organizations.

Its activities include:

• Organizing cultural events and educational workshops;
• Supporting social integration projects, often aimed at migrants and refugees;
• Developing initiatives that promote sustainable development and intercultural dialogue.

With a strong emphasis on non-formal education, InformaGiovani provides participants with a dynamic and inspiring environment to develop personal and professional skills, empowering them to create a positive impact in their communities and beyond.

Objectives:

• Future 3.0 is a Long-term Volunteering Project financed by ESC.
• You will spend 6 months living and working abroad in an international team.
• You will learn, reflect, develop competences, contribute, and impact.
• Workload distribution: 60% office work; 35% field work; 5% workshop and training participation.

Participants profile:

"Promoting volunteering and youth participation"

We are looking for volunteers aged between 21-30 years old with previous experiences in participating in workcamps, volunteering activities in country and abroad, with a strong interest in the youth sector, in discovering NGO-life inside and outside the office, in promoting youth participation, volunteerism and social inclusion, interested and motivated to use non formal education methods. Very good skills in using office management software, including Excell, Word, Adobe platform, etc. Previous international volunteering experience is welcome.

"Sport and recreational activities with kids in Palermo"

• age between 18 and 30 years;
• strong motivation for working with kids;
• flexibility and adaptability to different contexts;
• ability to team working;
• ability to implement sport activities (sport education);
• creativity and artistic skills (e.g. music, painting, drawing);
• good language skills (at least A1 in Italian and B1 in English).

"Supporting activities in a youth center"

• age between 18 and 30 years;
• strong motivation for working with kids;
• ability to team working, open-minded, sociable and flexible;
• ability to play instrument (guitar, drum, piano etc) or ability to produce audio-video material;
• creativity and artistic skills (drawing, sculpture, theatre, dance etc);
• adaptability to different cultural context;
• ability to use 3D printer is welcome.
