Noored Ühiskonna Heaks (NYH) is promoting calls for participants for European Solidarity Corps (ESC) long-term volunteering project which means supporting local organizations with different activities in İzmir, Türkiye.
The Pi Youth Association project offers a 10-12 month volunteering opportunity in İzmir, Turkey, focusing on empowering youth and fostering social inclusion. Volunteers will work on diverse tasks, including organizing workshops, supporting ESC and Erasmus+ programs, and promoting youth activities in collaboration with local organizations and schools. Additional responsibilities include creating digital content, running cultural events, and participating in community-focused initiatives.
Participants will develop skills in teamwork, project coordination, and intercultural communication while contributing to impactful activities like language clubs, cultural workshops, and youth training. Volunteers will receive accommodation, food allowances, transportation, and language lessons, along with comprehensive mentorship and guidance throughout their stay. With the chance to engage in both personal and professional growth, this project enables young individuals to contribute meaningfully while experiencing life in a vibrant, multicultural city.
The project aims to foster personal and social development by engaging young people in meaningful activities that address social challenges, promote inclusion, and strengthen local communities in İzmir, Türkiye. Volunteers will contribute to initiatives focusing on education, environmental protection, cultural exchange, and democratic participation, empowering them to gain valuable skills, broaden their perspectives, and make a positive impact.
We organize trainings, workshops and seminars across 10 different districts of İzmir, Türkiye, providing opportunities for personal development, healthy living skills, and social inclusion within our local community. Activity topics: Social challenges; Reception and integration of refugees and migrants; Citizenship and democratic participation; Environment and natural protection; Health and wellbeing; Education and training; Employment and entrepreneurship; Creativity and culture; Physical education and sport; Working against discrimination (including gender discrimination).
Organizing activities;
Volunteers will organize indoor/outdoor local activities (Trainings, workshops, language conversation clubs etc.) depends on his/her abilities at our organisation office, municipalities’ youth centers and primary/high schools at the city center and rural areas of Izmir;
Assisting office team;
The volunteer will support ESC/Erasmus+ departments of our office team. (Helping coordinate Erasmus+ and ESC programmes). Promoting Erasmus+ and ESC in local partners and youth centers.
You will be accommodated in a flat with four - five other ESC volunteers, sharing a bedroom with one other volunteer. The kitchen, bathroom, and other common areas will be shared with all the volunteers in the flat. As an ESC volunteer, you will receive private health insurance, monthly pocket money, food money, a Turkish language course (online or physical), mentor support, and assistance with the residence permit (required for stays longer than 59 days). Every year we host around 15 volunteers from different EU countries such as Estonia, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal and Spain.
At the start of your stay with us in İzmir, you will have weekly meetings with your mentor to understand how everything works and develop your skills. Our organization provides on-arrival training, mid-term, and final evaluation meetings for our volunteers. Additionally, if the Turkish National Agency organizes any trainings, you will participate in those as well. During your journey, we offer various trainings for our ESC volunteers, including teamwork, leadership, emotion management, and digital tools. We also organize motivational events like city tours, picnics, and bowling.
We are looking for motivated and open-minded individuals aged 18-30 who are eager to learn, collaborate, and contribute to community development.
Ideal candidates are enthusiastic about working with diverse groups, adaptable to new environments, and have a genuine interest in one or more of the following areas: social inclusion, education, environmental protection, creativity, and intercultural exchange.
Prior experience is not required, but a proactive attitude and willingness to take initiative are essential.
