Noored Ühiskonna Heaks (NYH) is promoting calls for participants for European Solidarity Corps (ESC) long-term volunteering project which means supporting local organizations with different activities in Athens, Greece.

About the Project

The project offered by Hellenic Youth Participation (HYP) provides a dynamic opportunity for young individuals to actively engage in fostering solidarity, cultural understanding, and non-formal education in Athens, Greece. The initiative is designed to promote European values through activities such as workshops, clean-ups, debates, and social campaigns that raise awareness of social issues like human rights, active citizenship, and cultural diversity. Volunteers will also support the organization’s projects, create digital content for social media, and collaborate with local NGOs to assist vulnerable communities, including refugees.

Participants will gain invaluable personal and professional development, improving skills like teamwork, communication, adaptability, and digital proficiency while experiencing life in a multicultural capital city. The project includes two training sessions organized by the Greek National Agency, along with additional workshops on team building, emotional intelligence, and crisis management.

Volunteers will benefit from comprehensive support, including accommodation in a shared flat, monthly pocket money, food allowances, transportation costs, Greek language lessons, and local mentorship to facilitate their integration. HYP’s commitment to youth activism and experiential learning ensures that participants leave with meaningful experiences, enhanced skills, and a deepened understanding of solidarity and intercultural collaboration.

About the organization

Hellenic Youth Participation, shortly HYP, is based in Athens, Greece and it stands for intercultural dialogue, non-formal education, mutual understanding and solidarity. 3 volunteers will take part in Compass I project.

Objectives:

1. support organisations in Athens with various activities (e.g. collecting & distributing food, multicultural library, working with migrants, supporting a second-hand collective shop, etc) according to their interests;

2. create and deliver workshops to adults and teenagers;

3. support HYP's activities;

4. create online awareness campaigns about social issues for Instagram, create content for and manage social media (Instagram, Tiktok, Facebook);

5. organise local events (clean-ups, cultural workshops etc), 6. create podcast episodes.

Training during the activity:

The volunteers will take part in the Welcome introduction days, in 2 trainings organised by the Greek NA (On-Arrival training & Mid Term Evaluation training), they will receive support and training on their tasks, they will take part in monthly trainings on soft skills and personal development and they will attend a weekly Greek lesson, offered by a volunteer.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements:

Volunteers will receive 180 euros for their pocket money and 170 for their food and local transportation. Volunteers will be hosted in a 4-bedroom flat, sharing kitchen and bathroom. Travelling to Greece and back is covered up to a certain amount, according to the distance calculator of EU.
